HowTo: Configure ZiLink Timetable

This HowTo covers configuring the timetable plugin and add the timetable block for students and staff.

Please configure the plugin as follows:

  1. Select the Timetable Offset. If your timetable has had different structures within the academic year, (ie different number of periods per day) mutiple timetables will be created. The highest number is normally the correct version but please liaise with your in-house timetabler  to check which is the correct version being used.
  2. Select the First Day of your timetable. SIMS.net normally starts on a Monday and Advanced Learning Facility starts on a Sunday if configured for a 7 day week.
  3. Select if you want to display period times on the users ZiLink Timetable. If you have a multiple sites which have different period start times please select disabled. This will also disable the 'Current Period' highlighting feature in the ZiLink Timetable.
  4. Select required Time Offset. Depending on how the timezone has been configured on the MIS server you may need to select a time offset so the period times display correctly.
  5. The ZiLink Timetable can display the Room Label either as a room code or as a description from the school MIS.

Click Save Changes

The timetable block can be viewed in three different locations in a Moodle site subject to the restrictions of the Moodle theme you are using. Typically it can be displayed:

  • from the Front Page throughout the iste as in this example, or
  • on the Default My home page, or
  • on the Default profile page.

If your theme allows it to be placed in either the left or right columns, it will usually dsiplay as a small block with links to 'My Timetable' and 'My Room Bookings' (subject to configuration and Moodle permissions.

If your theme allows it to be placed in the central part of the Moodle page it will usually display as a timetable with an additional link to 'My Room Bookings' (subject to configuration and Moodle permissions.

The ZiLink Timetable will default to displaying the current week on the user My Moodle page. The Timetable Block must be added to the Default My Moodle Page.

Your user can also select a different week from the drop-down box. The number of weeks available in this drop-down box is associated with the number of weeks that rooms can be booked in advance. This can be configured in ZiLink > Bookings > Rooms > Configuration.

You should has an existing My Timetable block displayed. If not, please add one then select the Cog to open the blocks configuration page.

You will need to configure the Timetable plugin as above to enable this feature.

 

 

User Profile Page

User Profile Page

The user timetable will display on their Profile page subject to the Moodle theme and permissions granted.

If the user has the required permission, they will also be able to view timetables when viewing other user profiles.

Configure ZiLink Permissions

Please refer to the HowTo: Use Moodle Permissions to configure ZiLink. Select the role you which to enable the following permission on.
