The following is a suggested and logical sequence for the process of installing ZiLink, installing and configuring ZiNET Connect and then configuring ZiLink to act on the data it receives from ZiNET Connect. You have to install ZiLink into Moodle first because there is information created by that process which ZiNET Connect needs for its configuration.
This not a detailed instruction but an overview. Detailed instructions for each step of the process are within this Manual.
ZiLink blocks and plugins are available from the Moodle Plugins directory here https://moodle.org/plugins/browse.php?list=set&id=64. All ZiLink blocks and plugins are required. They are installed in the usual way. For more information about installing plugins go to http://docs.moodle.org/27/en/Installing_plugins. (NB. This documentation is for Moodle 2.7. Be sure to select your version of Moodle from the drop-down list to view the correct instruction.)
Install and Configure ZiNET Connect
Refer to the following chapter, 'Install and Configure ZiNET Connect' for detailed instruction.
Initial ZiLink Configuration
This is the initial configuration for ZiLink. Once complete run 'Full Synchronisation' from the ZiNET Connect Console so that ZiLink can respond to your configuration acting on the data it receives. Please allow two or three hours for this initial synchronisation process to complete. Future synchronisations will be much quicker.
ZiLink Account Synchronisation
ZiLink will transfer information from your school management information systems, e.g. SIMS.Net and make it available in Moodle. The initial step is to match the management information system records with your existing Moodle accounts.
If you do not have Moodle accounts created then create them before using Account Matching.
When this process is complete ZiLink will be able to add students to Cohorts readying them for enrolment into courses.

ZiLink - Basic Configuration
ZiLink will automatically create/maintain Moodle Cohorts based upon teaching group information in your school MIS. For more information go to HowTo: Cohort Management.
ZiLink will, if you wish, automatically create Subject Categories using the information it receives from your school MIS. For information about creating course categories go to HowTo: Category Management.
ZiLink will, if you wish, automatically create Courses using the information it receives from your school MIS based on a course template you create in Moodle. For information about creating course categories go to HowTo: Course Management.
ZiLink will display a timetable for each user. For more information about configuring the ZiLink Timetable go to HowTo: Configure ZiLink Timetable.
ZiLink Room Booking
ZiLink has a room booking system for teachers to be able to temporarily move their class from their classroom to another teaching space such as an IT Suite. For more information about configuring the ZiLink Room Booking go to HowTo: Configure ZiLink Room Booking.
This initial configuration will ensure that ZiLink will provide some of the main functionality that enhances Moodle. There is much more to be done to access all the functionality but where you go next depends upon the needs of your school or academy.
