PLEASE NOTE: The ZiLink Data Manager uses information from your MIS. Each MIS that ZiLink integrates with has to be setup to make data available to ZiLink through the ZiNET Connect integration.
IMPORTANT: If SIMS.Net, is not your school MIS it is unlikely that assessment data will be available due to the design of other school MIS. However, this situation does change and for a definitive answer we recommend you contact firstname.lastname@example.org for the latest information.
ZiLink Data Manager is used to configure which data is allowed to be used by ZiLink for:
- Guardian View;
- Class View;
- Student View.
Each of these features has additional levels of filtering data.
You will need to select the Session, Components and Component Groups for any of these features to receive data. This is a fundamental requirement.
To use a Session, Component or Component Group they must be available in your MIS. If they are not, you will not be able to select them.
Go to Site administration > ZiLink > Data Manager.
By selecting one or more sessions you are allowing the data contained in those sessions to be made available to ZiLink. The sessions you select need to be in chronological order with the earliest session at the top and the most recent at the bottom.
You can re-order sessions by selecting them and using the 'Up' and 'Down' buttons under the box.
You can multi-select sessions by holding the Ctrl key and clicking the sessions you want to include.
If you are familiar with SIMS.Net, a Session is called a Result Set in SIMS.
Select all the Sessions you wish to include and click 'Save changes'. ZiLink will 'remember' which Sessions you have selected.
A Component is a data field. It is the place where a data item is stored. In this example we have selected English Attainment.
Just like Sessions, you can multi-select the Components you wish to include.
If you are familiar with SIMS.Net, a Component is called an Aspect in SIMS.
Select all the Components you wish to include and click 'Save changes'. ZiLink will 'remember' which Components you have selected.
A Component Group is a template containing the Components you have selected. It is important that the Components actually exist in the Component Group within your MIS.
Just like Components, you can multi-select the Component Groups you wish to include.
If you are familiar with SIMS.Net, a Component Group is called a Template in SIMS.
Select all the Component Groups you wish to include and click 'Save changes'. ZiLink will 'remember' which Component Groups you have selected.
